This attack is coherent with the US policy of provoking all-out civil war in Pakistan to break up that country to prevent it from serving as an energy corridor between Iran and China. The Pakistani Taliban are a proxy of the CIA. If the government in Islamabad collapses completely, or especially if Taliban forces appear to be taking control of some of Pakistan's nuclear forces, Wall Street could also get something it would like very much: a spectacular world shock that could send the world's hot money fleeing into the supposed safe haven of the US dollar, which is otherwise near collapse. Inside the US, a wave of Islamophobia is being ginned up with the Fort Hood shootings, the KSM trial in New York CIty, the seizure of allegedly pro-Iranian mosques, the Zazi case, and the incendiary anti-Moslem statements of Pat Robertson, the patron of the new reactionary governor of Virginia. Obama is expected to announce another massive escalation of US forces in Afghanistan within days. If a Wall Street-CIA Operation Safe Haven is indeed at hand, it could also include a coup in Saudi Arabia, or a clash between Saudi Arabia and Iran over the civil war in Yemen. An Israeli attack on Iran, although much discussed, remains the least likely variation, with Pakistan still at the top of the US hit list.

11/5/09—VIDEO: RT's Cedric Moon interviews Webster Tarpley as he outlines the landmark Milan verdict in which 23 CIA personnel have been found guilty of kidnapping in the case of Imam Nasr, also known as Abu Omar, who was abducted from a Milan street in 2003. The Moslem cleric was drugged, taken to Aviano air base, tortured, transported to Ramstein air base, and then moved to Cairo, where he was tortured and held for four years. This operation had been approved by Condolleezza Rice and George Tenet. Twenty-two CIA personnel were found guilty of kidnapping and sentenced to five years. Bob Lady, the Milan station chief, was given 8 years. All were fugitives tried in absentia. Also charged were 7 officials of SISMI, the Italian military intelligence, including SISMI boss Nicolò Pollari and anti-terror boss Marco Mancini. Five of the SISMI defendants got off because the evidence against them was classified as state secrets, but two were convicted as accomplices and given three-year sentences. Pollari and Lady were key players in the 2003 Niger yellowcake forgeries which were used by Bush in his 2003 State of the Union speech to set the stage for the Iraq war; Pollari is generally recognized as the person who delivered these forged documents to the White House. This is the world's first verdict on "extraordinary rendition," which indeed turns out to be kidnapping. It is the first major CIA trial in Italy in over 40 years of criminal abuses. It is also the most thorough juridical exposure of CIA covert operations ever carried out in a courtroom. Italian prosecutors Armando Spataro and Guido Salvini have struck a blow for the rule of law. Will Italian Justice Minister Alfano now finally request the extradition of the 23 CIA figures? If he does, will the US extradite them? In the meantime, kidnapping-rendition, black sites, and torture flourish under Obama.

11/3/09—VIDEO: In an interview with RT's Dina Gusovsky, Webster G. Tarpley comments on news from the London Guardian that an aircraft belonging to the infamous CIA pirate fleet used for illegal kidnap-renditions over several years has been observed in a rendezvous with British Special Air Services commandos at Birmingham airport. Obama's executive order of January 22, 2009 explicitly allows such illegal renditions, so this should be no surprise. Also, Obama's order leaves a gaping loophole for the maintenance of US "black site" secret prisons/torture chambers, as long as the inmates are moved around periodically. The implication is that the identified black sites at Stare Kiejcuti in Poland and in Romania are still functioning. This is strong circumstantial evidence that the US is still delivering prisoners to countries where torture is routinely practiced. This was the case of Imam Nasr of Milan, in which a score of CIA employees, including Rome station chief Bob Lady, have been indicted by Italian prosecutors, and top officials of the Italian military intelligence SISMI arrested. The change is from Bush's open brutality to Obama's cynical hypocrisy. Human Rights Watch, which condemned rendition under Bush, now supports it under Obama.

We welcome the October 2 statement issued by David Swanson entitled "Leading Americans Ask U.S. Military to Refuse Orders to Attack Iran" and signed by a group of well-known personalities, which will generate new action to stop this critical threat to civilization as we have known it. At the same time, we regret that this new statement neither adequately conveys the depth of the strategic crisis, as seen through the events of the last five weeks, nor indicates the necessary scale of political mobilization on the part of anti-war forces. Recent events, above all the case of the rogue B-52, establish beyond any doubt that the grave threat to humanity identified in the August 26 Kennebunkport Warning was and continues to be real. THE KENNEBUNKPORT WARNING
Presented by a Group of US Opposition Political Leaders Gathered in Protest at the Bush Compound in Kennebunkport, Maine, August 24-25, 2007

To the American people, and to peace loving individuals everywhere:

Massive evidence* has come to our attention which shows that the backers, controllers, and allies of Vice President Dick Cheney are determined to orchestrate and manufacture a new 9/11 terror incident, and/or a new Gulf of Tonkin war provocation over the coming weeks and months. Such events would be used by the Bush administration as a pretext for launching an aggressive war against Iran, quite possibly with nuclear weapons, and for imposing a regime of martial law here in the United States.

We call on the House of Representatives to proceed immediately to the impeachment of Cheney, as an urgent measure for avoiding a wider and more catastrophic war. Once impeachment has begun, it will be easier for loyal and patriotic military officers to refuse illegal orders coming from the Cheney faction.

We solemnly warn the people of the world that any terrorist attack with weapons of mass destruction taking place inside the United States or elsewhere in the immediate future must be considered the prima facie responsibility of the Cheney faction. We urge responsible political leaders everywhere to begin at once to inoculate the public opinion of their countries against such a threatened false flag terror operation.

[From email 9/20/07] "I believe that...the more prolific of our antagonists in the Kennebunkport Warning matter were professional agitators. To take one example, 'Colonel Jenny Sparks' was harassing both the Oregon Truth Alliance and Portland Nuclear Inquest (which I lead) in the weeks before the Kennebunkport Warning. In typical agitator fashion, she claimed to do so in order to defend the 911 Truth Movement and debunk our "alarmism" for alerting Portland to the dangers the nuclear simulation, Operation Noble Resolve. She and cohorts infiltrated both group lists and hurled monkey wrenches in every direction before getting the boot. As a lasting memorial of the encounter, they then set up their own user group, made up of a mixed set of a dozen agitators and useful idiots, largely dedicated to damning me and browbeating [other local activists]. Every once in awhile I read it for amusement.

"The rapidity with which the same set (with additions) focused their efforts against The Kennebunkport Warning—while making the same tired arguments of "rescuing" the 911 Truth Movement—is more proof of the same modus operandi. I am ashamed of the four signatories to that bold document for wimping out and turning tail. Given that the disinformation campaign that they thereby invited was professional, the most charitable opinion I can offer is that they were leaned on by professional pushers (or pulled along by professional handlers).

Dear Editor,
I ran Camp Alex (Camp Casey Two) out of my farm during the Aug. 24-26 Peace Rally in K'port, Maine. I can verify the legitimacy of the Kennebunkport Warning. Many of us at the camp signed it—I saw the one with Sheehan and the others while it was in the process of being signed—before, during and after. It was the same as the one we all signed, which is posted on 911blogger.
I had at least 75 campers stay here who would probably be able to attest to their awareness of the document and many would be able to share their evidence, if they chose to get involved, to prove that the document was authentic. Fifty of us heard Bruce speak about it while we were waiting to board the bus to go to the peace rally. We were all, it seemed to me, in general agreement about the dire state of the nation due to the Cheney faction. We were mostly all together at camp during much of the time when it was being signed at camp and many of us were witnesses to it being signed by others at the rally—myself included, as I had a stage pass and was there at the stage tent when they were being asked to sign. There are pictures on the web which will verify my presence, talking to Kucinich's staff person, Michael Klein.
Based on emails I have received, it is obvious to me that the big name people are afraid, but I believe that they should not defame those who asked them to sign the petition. In my view, this accusation of falsified documenting casts a cloud of suspicion over the brave efforts of those signators who are standing by their decision to sign the petition. I stand with those who signed it who are not backing down.

At the end of the convention, the Philadelphia Platform was discussed, amended and adopted by unanimous acclaim. The following are abbreviated highlights of the five policy goals and five action points detailed in the Platform. See full text of document.

FIVE POLICY GOALS

We appeal to leftists, progressives, conservatives, libertarians, independents, and those entering or re-entering politics to transcend the artificial divisions that have diminished their impact. The antiwar, impeachment, anti-globalization, labor, civil rights, veterans, anti-tax, civil liberties, honest election, and 9/11 truth movements—along with civic and progressive religious groups and other issue groups—have been weakened too long by single issues and narrow focus. It is time for these movements to unite as a national coalition on a common platform for independent action. We call for a united front of all organizations and persons of good will based on the following:

1. Impeach, remove, and indict Bush, Cheney and their henchmen.

2. End all wars. All U.S. troops must be brought home at once from Afghanistan and Iraq by any means necessary, including the immediate cutoff of funding.

3. No Bush police-state dictatorship. Repeal the Patriot Act, restore full habeas corpus, respect the Bill of Rights and the Geneva Convention.

4. Government by the People, not by cliques of bankers and financiers.

5. 9/11 truth. Publish the full 9/11 documentation, and re-open the investigation.

FIVE ACTION POINTS

At a minimum, we aim to shape the climate of public opinion. We may become the focal point of a new political regroupment. These questions will be decided in the struggles that lie ahead. We suggest that questions of economic and social policy be deferred for now, and that they become the object of ongoing discussion. We also urge that organizational questions be postponed until a later time. We call on all organizations to join in launching the following urgent actions in support of the policies outlined:

A. We will nominate and support independent political candidates for public office at all levels of government in the 2007 and 2008 elections. Because of the problems of ballot access, such candidate may need to enter the primary elections of the Republican, Democratic, Green, Libertarian, or other political parties.

B. Truth squad interventions taking advantage of the new media (using camcorders to capture political content which is then posted on the internet) to intervene in the ongoing presidential primary campaigns of the Democrats, Republicans, and others, to focus public attention and political debate on the urgent questions outlined above, rather than on the divisive and artificial wedge issues preferred by the corporate media.

C. Mass political education through internet web sites, conferences, books, DVDs, and a sustained campaign to write our own fairness doctrine by using radio, cable access, and call-ins to take back the public air waves from the right-wing extremists and left gatekeepers.

D. This united front will exist as a process of political discussion, deliberation, mass organizing, and open debate open to political forces of all types who agree with its platform of ideas. Special attention will be given to campus organizing.

E. Carefully selected legal actions, as typified by the civil RICO suit against Bush-Cheney as a continuing criminal enterprise.
